GIS Layers for Clark Fork Superfund Sites, Montana, 1988-2000
Publication place: Helena, Montana
Publisher: Montana State Library

Abstract:
The Montana State Library provided GIS services to support the investigation and cleanup of Superfund sites along the upper Clark Fork and in the towns of Butte, Anaconda, and Milltown. This metadata record is the point of discovery in the Library's GIS Data List application for the Library's collection of data that was produced or used to support the activities of the EPA, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, the Atlantic Richfield Company, and their contractors working on the Superfund sites.

A list of the layers in this collection, with links to their individual metadata documents, is available through the Related Records link in the GIS Data List display of this page. The layer titles are listed in the supplemental information section of this document.

The collection includes data created by the project participants that depict things that needed to be remediated, such as contaminated sites and tailings deposits, plans for where contaminants were proposed to be relocated, boundaries of various operable units and sub-projects, information about the general landscape and infrastructure around the cleanup sites.

These data were formerly available from the Montana State Library web site but were removed because they are potentially out of date. Please contact the Federal Superfund Bureau of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality if you want these data so they may tell you if newer or better data are available. If the data are not available from the Department of Environmental Quality, you may request a copy from the Montana State Library data archive.
